KYIV: At least two people were killed, and five others sustained injuries in Russian troops shelling in Kherson, the southern region of Ukraine, Governor Yaroslav Yanushevich said on Sunday.

During a Kyiv counter-offensive, Ukrainian forces have recaptured the city of Kherson in November.

The Governor said that last night, two persons were killed in the Russian troops’ shelling, adding that five people had been injured.

Yanushevich said the city was attacked with mortars, artillery, tanks, and multiple launch rocket systems.

Before their November retreat, Russian forces destroyed the city’s infrastructure of basic utilities and are repeatedly targeting Kherson.

In the Black Sea city of Odessa, following Russian drone attacks, emergency shutdowns were continuing, a spokesman for the regional administration, Sergiy Bratchuk, said on Sunday.
