Ryan O’Neal, ‘Love Story’ Fame Dies at Age 82

LOS ANGELES: Hollywood actor Ryan O’Neal, known for starring 1970s heartthrob ‘Love Story’ died on Friday at the age of 82.

His son in an Instagram post disclosed the death of the famous actor, however, he did not give cause of death.

O’Neal, who had a long-time romance with the late actress Farrah Fawcett, in 2012 revealed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

A Los Angeles native, O’Neal, was trained as an amateur boxer before starting acting. He made his showbiz breakthrough in 1964, with a role in the prime-time television hit soap opera Peyton Place.

He is best remembered for his Oscar-nominated romantic drama in 1970 “Love Story,”. The movie a box office sensation was adapted from Erich Segal’s popular novel of the same title.

He also acted in “What’s Up, Doc?” in 1972 opposite Barbra Streisand, directed by Peter Bogdanovich.

His son Patrick O’Neal, in an Instagram post on Friday paying tribute to his later father termed him a true hero.

“My dad passed away peacefully today, with his loving team by his side supporting him and loving him as he would us,” he said.
