Saudi Arabia Will Host Women Football Tournament in January

RIYADH:  The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) is going to host the Women’s International friendly tournament in Al-KhobarEastern Province. The women football tournament will be held from Jan. 11 to 19 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Comoros, Pakistan, Mauritius and the hosts Saudi Arabia will take part in the tournament.

The matches of the tournament will be played at the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium. Officials said that the aim of the tournament is to develop the first women’s football team of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi team has already attended several camps and friendly matches.

Women Football Tournament

Lamia Bin Bahian, director of the Women’s Football Department in Saudi Arabia said women’s football in the Kingdom has witnessed great leaps lately through local competitions and regional training centers for females that contributed to discovering talents for the country’s team in upcoming years.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation is harnessing all capabilities to develop women’s football, Bahian noted.

She added that the upcoming aims to increase the unity among the players before entering official tournaments in the future.
