Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Affairs Ministry Announces Winners of Int’l Competition of Holy Quran

MECCA: Deputy Governor of Makkah, Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, has crowned the winners of the 43rd King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation of the Quran in Mecca.

Prizes worth one million dollars were awarded to the winners during the closing ceremony held by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, with the participation of 166 contestants competing in five categories from 117 nations worldwide.

In the first category, Ayoub bin Abdulaziz Al-Wahibi from Saudi Arabia got first position and received a prize of 132,000 dollars.

Ammar bin Salem Al-Shahri from Saudi Arabia secured first place prize in the second category and was awarded with 79,000 dollars.

Third category of comptetion

In the third category, the winner was Mohammed bin Ibrahim Mohammed from Somalia, who received a prize of 53,000 dollars.

Mohammed Ghai from Senegal got the top position in the 4th category, earning a prize of 39,000 dollars.

Finally, Elias Abdou from Larionion claimed first place in the 5th category and won a prize of 17,000 dollars.
