Saudi Crown Prince, Blinken Discuss Cooperation

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have discussed ways to enhance cooperation and bilateral ties in diverse fields, and efforts toward the recent regional and global developments, Arab media reported on Wednesday.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Antony Blinken in Jeddah and discussed matters of mutual interest. Senior US and Saudi officials also attended the meeting.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Blinken’s visit comes as Saudi Arabia and the United States seek to broker a long-term truce between Sudan’s warring parties in current dialogue in Jeddah.

The US top diplomat will also attend US-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ministerial meeting to discuss cooperation with Gulf partners and ways to promote stability, security, de-escalation, regional integration, and economic opportunities across the region, spokesperson Matt Miller said.

US Secretary of State Blinken and Saudi Minister for Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan will also co-host a ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh “to eliminate the continuing threat of (Daesh) and reiterate our commitment to make sure its permanent defeat,” he said.
