Saudi Space Agency, Axiom Space Ink MoU to Develop National Space Capabilities: SPA

RIYADH: The Saudi Space Agency has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Axiom Space with the aim of developing Saudi national capabilities in several areas of the space field, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

According to the SPA, the memorandum of understanding was inked during an official tour of the Saudi Digital Economy, Space, and Innovation delegation to the USA. The delegation was led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Head of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Space Agency Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawahah, the SPA maintained. It also included the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Space Agency, Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, and several top officials from the agency, the SPA added.

As per the terms of the memorandum of understanding, Axiom Space will provide several opportunities for Saudi student training and on-the-job staff training, as well as the exchange of skills, knowledge, and experiences in the sector of manned spaceflights. The MoU also covers cooperation between both sides in several aspects of developing national capabilities in the space field and related sectors, the SPA reported. The firm will offer educational and training programs relevant to its scope for the students of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

It is expected that this MoU will enhance educational and professional development opportunities for Saudi students and employees, further deepen cooperation, and enhance mutual benefits between the company and Saudi Space Agency, the SPA further reported.
