Sec-Gen Commends IsDB’s Support for Socio-Economic Development of OIC Member States

JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha has lauded the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) for the remarkable progress it has made over the 50 years of its existence towards supporting the socio-economic development of the OIC Member countries.

The OIC statement said the Secretary-General made the remarks at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), which was held in Riyadh on Sunday, under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Reflecting on the IsDB achievements, the Secretary-General stated that the establishment and growth of the IsDB represented a true spirit of solidarity and collaboration among OIC Member States.

Sec Gen Commends IsDBs Support for Socio Economic Development of OIC Member States

The Secretary-General also paid tribute to the government and people of Saudi Arabia for hosting the IsDB since its creation and supporting it with the infrastructure and environment that helped the bank to grow further.

He also paid homage to other OIC Member States for their unwavering support of the IsDB.

Israeli deadliest onslaught on Gaza condemned

He strongly condemned the continued Israeli deadliest onslaught in the Gaza Strip, which has killed thousands of civilians, most of them being children and women, and the destruction of critical infrastructures in Gaza.

The Secretary-General called for joint measures that reinforce the role of the OIC Member States and institutions, including IsDB, in boosting the resilience of the Palestinian people to end their hardships.

Hissein Brahim Taha on the occasion encouraged the IsDB to continue to work towards realizing the goals of the organization in key areas such as infrastructure development, science, technology, poverty alleviation, education, and innovation.
