SYDNEY: A number of people were wounded in a stabbing at a church in Wentworthville, about 30 km west of the Sydney central business district, police said on Monday.
Officers apprehended a man who is currently assisting police with their inquiries, a police statement said.
The wounded people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated by paramedics, the statement added.
Local media reported that a church leader and many worshippers were stabbed during a service at the church. Footage of the incident circulating online showed a man lunging and stabbing a speaker.
Six Killed in Stabbing Attack in Sydney
This incident follows another stabbing attack in the city, where six people were killed in a knife attack at a mall in Sydney’s Bondi area on Saturday.
