SECP, UN Women Pakistan All Set to Host ESG Symposium

ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange of Pakistan (SECP), in partnership with UN Women Pakistan, is all set to organize a symposium on “Driving Progress on Sustainability and Climate Change Considerations.” The Caretaker Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, will be the chief guest of the event.

Leadership and experts from capital market institutions, including the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, Pakistan Business Council, Mutual Fund Association of Pakistan, International Finance Corporation, InfraZamin, Asian Development Bank, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, CFA-Pakistan, ACCA-Pakistan, corporate leaders, and academia will be participating in the symposium, scheduled for 23 January 2024, in Karachi.

Discussions in Symposium

The event will focus on policy discussions on ESG-based investing and climate change, as well as facilitate consultations on draft ESG disclosure guidelines.

Moreover, experts will discuss ESG action plans in an open forum and share their feedback on the ‘ESG Sustain’ website, the leading resource for sustainability knowledge.

The SECP is committed to promoting sustainable and responsible business practices in the country, it said in a statement.

By improving the ESG ecosystem, the SECP aimed to improve transparency and promote sustainable business practices in capital markets, the statement added.
