PESHAWAR: The district’s security in Peshawar has been placed on high alert to preserve peace and order throughout the holy month of Muharram, Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Haroon ul Rashid Khan said on Friday.
He siad that extra blockades had been set up in border regions close to tribal districts, coupled with increased police patrolling of the city and stricter inspection of all entry and exit points. The three-layer security setup was finished under the security plan for inner-city funeral processions, and all SPs were keeping an eye on the security arrangements in their respective divisions.

According to the Muharram security plan, he said, a bomb disposal unit, sniffer dogs, and CCTV cameras will check and clear all the locations and routes of Muharram events, including Majalis, processions, etc.
Armored vehicles, personnel from the RRF, ATS, QRF, Ladies Police, BDU, Ababeel Squad, and the City Patrol Force have also been deployed to strengthen the security measures further.
He advised the mourners and civilians to assist the on-duty police officers and watch out for suspicious people or activity.
