PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Tuesday sealed seven shops and seized significant quantities of substandard food products during crackdowns in Jalozai and Muhajir Bazaar in district Nowshera.

The food safety team meticulously inspected various establishments including grocery stores, bakeries, non-shops, milk vendors, and wholesale dealers, as outlined by the Authority’s spokesperson.

Samples of milk, spices, tea leaves, beverages, milk packs, and sausages underwent rigorous testing using a mobile food testing lab.

Resulting of these inspections, the team confiscated 27 mislabeled cotton milk packs, 30 kg of substandard tea leaves, 65 kg of inferior-quality spices, and 10 bundles of incorrectly labelled chips.

Seven shops faced immediate closure, with hefty fines levied against their owners.

Director General of the Food Authority, Shafiullah Khan, affirmed a firm stance, declaring zero tolerance for compromised food quality and emphasising strict measures against those involved in food adulteration.     —APP
