KARACHI: Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi and Ansha Shahid, the daughter of former national side skipper Shahid Afridi, rukhsati (seeing off) ceremony will be held on Tuesday (tonight).
Last night, a mehndi event (pre-wedding celebrations) was organized at Afridi’s house and was attended by relatives and close friends of the couple.
The groom Shaheen Shah Afridi also participated in the ceremony along with his family.
The couple’s nikah was solemnized in February this year. Maulana Abdul Sattar had performed the nikah at the Zakaria Mosque.
Soon after the nikah, a reception was also arranged in which cricketers Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Shadab Khan, as well as squash legend Jahangir Khan, participated.
The pair were engaged about 2 years ago.
Shaheen Afridi’s Valima on 21 September
The Valima ceremony will be organized on 21 September in Islamabad.
Earlier, the 23-year-old pacer Shaheen Afridi had revealed that it was he who thought about marrying Ansha first.
Shaheen Shah said in an interview that Lala (Shahid Afridi) and his brother have been friends for a very long time, and their elders know each other too.
Upon where the couple first met, the pacer could not think of a particular moment since they had known each other for a while.
He said that there was not a proper first meet-up as such. We used to go to each other’s houses. Whenever they would come to our house no. I would see her around and then we met at our Nikah.
