BARRANQUILLA: Shakira, the renowned popstar, is deeply moved by a touching gesture from her hometown in Barranquilla, Colombia. The 46-year-old singer shared images of a bronze statue dedicated to her famous dance move from the 2005 hit “Hips Don’t Lie,” crafted by artist Yino Márques.

In an Instagram post, Shakira expressed her happiness in sharing the moment with her parents, William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia Ripoll Torrado, especially on her mother’s birthday, as their picture graced the album cover.

The post included a solo shot of the impressive 21-foot statue and another image featuring Shakira’s parents alongside the Mayor of Barranquilla. Shakira’s caption reflected her emotional response, stating, “This is too much for my little heart,” in reference to a heartfelt note below the statue that paid homage to her life and career.

Appreciation for Shakira

The inscription in Spanish described Shakira as having “a heart that do not lie, unmatched talent, a voice that moves masses, and bare feet that march for the good of childhood and humanity.”

The final picture captured a candid moment between Shakira’s father, William, and the mayor, with Shakira’s brother standing beside them. The bronze statue serves as a symbol of appreciation and recognition for the global icon’s contributions to music and philanthropy.
