LAHORE: As the nation awaits the final tally of votes for both national and provincial assembly contests, leaders from major political parties convened late into the night on Friday, maneuvering to secure enough support to form governments at the national and provincial levels.

Following a speech by PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif earlier in the evening, wherein he entrusted his brother, former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the task of forging alliances with key parties like PPP and MQM-P, the political landscape buzzed with activity.

Shehbaz Sharif held discussions with PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari and his son, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, at the residence of Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Describing the meeting as the commencement of a significant dialogue, the leaders deliberated on the election results and the ensuing post-election scenario. Despite its brevity, the meeting concluded on a positive note, hinting at potential collaboration.

Subsequently, Shehbaz Sharif reached out to MQM-P Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, as confirmed by senior MQM-P leader Aminul Haque.

Amidst this fluid political landscape, these late-night deliberations underscore the intricate negotiations underway as parties strategize to shape the country’s political trajectory in the aftermath of the elections.
