Singapore F-16 Fighter Jet Crashes at Tengah Air Base

Singapore: A military air base in Singapore witnessed an F-16 fighter jet crash on Wednesday.

The statement released, the pilot safely ejected before the aircraft crashed within Tengah Air Base, confirmed by the defense ministry.

The pilot emerged conscious and able to walk, receiving immediate medical attention. Thankfully, no other persons were hurt in the incident.

“The pilot is conscious and able to walk. He is receiving medical attention and no other personnel are hurt.” The ministry said the Singapore jet “experienced an issue during take-off and the pilot responded in accordance with emergency procedures,” read the statement from the defense ministry.

“The last time we had a fighter jet crash incident was 20 years ago,” Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said on Facebook, referring to a 2004 incident that happened in Arizona in the United States during training.

In a separate incident in 2010, a military helicopter was compelled to make an emergency landing in an open field near a residential area in Singapore due to engine issues.
