COPENHANGEN: Danish prosecution authorities announced on Friday that six persons had been remanded in custody overnight after a police operation successfully thwarted a potential terror attack.

The Danish prosecution service revealed that six people were remanded in custody overnight until January 9, with four of them remanded in absentia. The decision to remand suspects in absentia suggests they may be located abroad.

The proceedings took place behind closed doors, and no further information about the case has been disclosed. Danish police, in a statement on Thursday, confirmed the arrest of three persons, describing the group as planning an act of terror.

Terror Attack Allegations

Reports from Danish news agency Ritzau and public broadcaster DR indicated that the arrests were linked to the organized crime gang, which is banned in Denmark. The individuals arrested were reported to be two men and a young woman, with one of the men subsequently released.

Meanwhile, three men were arrested in Germany, and a fourth in the Netherlands on Thursday, with allegations that they had initiated preparations for a weapons cache in Berlin for potential terrorist attacks against institutions in Europe, according to German federal prosecutors. The investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing in both Denmark and Germany.
