SEOUL: South Korea has experienced its hottest April since records began in 1973, the South Korean Meteorological Administration said on Tuesday. Breaking records dating back, the average daily temperatures for the month soared more than 2.5 degrees Celsius above the norm.

The agency reported an unprecedented average national temperature of 14.9 degrees Celsius (58.8 degrees Fahrenheit) for April 2024, marking a significant departure from historical averages.

This alarming increase underscores the intensifying impact of climate change, heightening concerns about rising temperatures and their repercussions on ecosystems, agriculture, and public health. The data serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for collective action to mitigate the effects of global warming and safeguard the planet for future generations.
