NEW DELHI: At least eight people including a woman were killed in a stampede during a roadshow in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, India on Wednesday.

The incident took place when former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was holding a roadshow in the area. The rush started as Naidu’s convoy was to reach the spot in the evening. Local officials confirmed that eight people including a woman were killed in the stampede. It added that several people were wounded in the incident and they were immediately shifted to the hospitals.

Chandrababu Naidu cancelled his roadshow after the stampede in the area. He has been organizing a series of meetings across the state, where assembly polls are due in 2024.
