STOCKHOLM, Sweden: Against the backdrop of Sweden’s anticipated NATO membership and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, top security figures, including Swedish Civil Defence Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin and Commander-in-Chief Micael Bydén, have voiced concerns about the possibility of a war in Sweden.

Speaking at the Folk och Försvar conference, Bohlin emphasized the need for faster modernization of the civil defence system and called on citizens to take practical steps for increased resilience.

Drawing parallels with Ukraine, he stressed the importance of widespread awareness and understanding of the situation.

Commander-in-Chief Bydén supported Bohlin’s remarks, urging mental preparedness and emphasizing the need for action.

While acknowledging recent security strengthening efforts, Bydén also highlighted the importance of Sweden’s full NATO membership.

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is tasked with aiding essential entities in building wartime organizations, and the government aims to enhance the security of health product supply.
