Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi Declares May 10 as Pakistan’s Stability Day

LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi on Wednesday declared May 10 as Pakistan’s Stability Day after consulting different religious schools of thought.

He highlighted the significance of this decision in enhancing Pakistan’s reputation, particularly in light of the troubling events of May 9.

It is to be noted that the May 9 events were a series of violent protests that took place on 9 May 2023, in the country following the arrest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. In their demonstrations, protesters had descended into violent riots targeting military installations and memorials of national heroes.

Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi Expresses Dismay Over Delay in Court Proceedings

Expressing dismay over the delay in court proceedings, Tahir Ashrafi stressed the significance of justice prevailing and urged for accountability for those liable.

He called for a thorough probe into the troublemakers behind the unrest and advocated for unity among political parties to ensure stability.

Ashrafi also questioned the judiciary’s approach and underlined Pakistan’s progress in attracting investment from friendly countries.
