Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Discuss State Border Demarcation

BAKU: Tajikistan and Uzbekistan convened for a meeting of the Joint Tajik-Uzbek Demarcation Commission from April 29 to May 4, 2024, in Dushanbe to resolve the longstanding territorial disputes. The talks focused on the demarcation of the state border between the two neighboring nations, a crucial process aimed at delineating clear boundaries.

According to statements released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, the working groups of the commission reviewed the progress of demarcation works during the meeting. Detailed discussions ensued, leading to the formulation of mutually agreed proposals regarding the demarcation line project between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The Ministry highlighted the collaborative and constructive spirit that characterized the proceedings, noting it as a hallmark of the longstanding partnership between the two countries.

Upon the conclusion of the discussions, both parties signed a protocol outlining the agreed-upon proposals and decisions reached during the meeting.

Looking ahead, the Ministry announced that the next meeting of the Joint Tajik-Uzbek Demarcation Commission is scheduled to take place on Tajikistan’s territory.
