The announcement was made by Time editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs, who praised Swift for her ability to transcend borders and be a source of light in a statement.

He highlighted Taylor Swift’s accomplishments in 2023, emphasizing her commitment to validating the dreams, feelings, and experiences of people, particularly women, who often feel overlooked and underestimated.
