LAHORE: Tetra Pak Pakistan, a frontrunner in sustainable food processing and packaging solutions, has partnered with WWF Pakistan for the sixth consecutive year to continue its countrywide awareness program aimed at guiding and educating young Pakistani students on the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling knowhow.

During the program, the student engagement drive would cover 50 schools situated in the metropolitan cities of Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Faisalabad.

More than 10,000 Pakistani students, aged from 5 to 13 years and studying in grades 1 to 7, would exploit the opportunity to benefit from this unique program, which is based on the modern teaching method of experience-based learning.

The Sustainability Director at Tetra Pak, Volkan Aydeniz, has officially kicked off the student engagement in collaboration with WWF training executives. The team has already conducted around 18 recycling awareness sessions involving over 1700 students from 17 different schools in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Both private and government schools are part of the campaign, comprising a total of 120 sessions.

Waste Recycling Awareness Program

During the program, visual aids comprising educational animation videos, engaging storytelling sessions, interactive group activities such as arts and crafts sessions, and learning how to create useful items using recycled Tetra Pak cartons are some key elements to help the students realize the importance of real-world challenges such as environment conservation, waste reduction, material reuse, and waste recycling. The program aims to make sustainability and recycling an exciting and memorable learning experience for young minds. These sessions also underscore Tetra Pak’s firm commitment to promoting growth and sustainability.

To commemorate their participation, all students would receive an activity book and would also have the opportunity to participate in a carton collection and recycling competition. As a novel addition to this year’s campaign, students would actively take part in collecting Used Beverage Carton (UBC) waste, fostering a sense of responsibility towards recycling. The collected cartons would be donated for further processing, contributing to a sustainable and circular approach to packaging.

This Recycling Awareness Campaign stands as a testament to Tetra Pak’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and WWF’s dedication to fostering a future where humans and nature flourish together. Through education and action, the campaign aims to instill a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness in the younger generation.
