ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan film “The Legend of Maula Jatt”— starring Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbas — has achieved yet another milestone to become the highest-earning movie at the worldwide box office — crossing the threshold of earning $10 million or over two billion Pakistani rupees since it was released in October 2022.
A record at the box office
The film, a joint project of Encyclomedia and Lashari Films, has become the first Pakistani film to cross $1 million dollars, which is equivalent to 2.261 billion Pakistani rupees, at the worldwide box office.
As per the report of Variety, the film earned 4.2 million dollars or more than 95 million Pakistani rupees in Pakistan and it will soon become the first Pakistani film to earn more than one billion rupees in the country.
The film was released on October 13, 2022. “The Legend of Maula Jatt” earned the highest business in the UK to cross the threshold of $17 million. The film is also the highest-earning South Asian film in the UK in 2022 and no Bollywood film could compete with it.
The film is now slated to be released and screened in Turkey and China.
