LAHORE: Thousands of citizens on Sunday attended Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Gaza March in Lahore to show solidarity with Palestinians in the besieged, densely populated Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank.
JI organized the Gaza Solidarity March at Lahore’s Punjab University Campus Bridge. The massive public event was addressed by JI Ameer Sirajul Haq, politicians, and clerics. Protestors chanted pro-Palestinian slogans and demanded an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza.
While addressing the Gaza March, Sirajul Haq said that the innocent children of Gaza were waiting for the help of Muslim nations amid Israeli bombardment. He slammed rulers of the Muslim nations for doing nothing for the relief of Palestinian brethren except making tall claims.
He said that the rulers of the Muslim countries did nothing in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit except for consolation. Haq said that a dead resolution was passed at the OIC summit, ineffective in providing any relief to the Palestinian people and stopping the inhumane actions of the Israeli occupation forces.
Sirajul Haq Appreciates Voices Raised for Gaza
He appreciated the Western nationals, including the United Kingdom (UK), Australia, Ireland, France, United States (US) and Canada for showing solidarity with the Palestinians.
Haq said that the French nationals forced their government to change its narrative through a powerful campaign. He said that the people of Canada and Australia have also exhibited solidarity with Palestinians.
Haq also expressed his gratitude to the people of London, Ireland, and Washington for raising strong voices for Gaza.
The JI Pakistan Ameer said that the big rally was a ‘message of death’ to the enemy. Israel is an evil state established by the imperialist forces. Palestinians have never accepted Israel, and they are fighting bravely against the occupation forces. He said that Israeli nationals are also protesting against Benjamin Netanyahu.
Haq said that this rally gives a message to Gaza that they are not alone and we are standing side-by-side in this Jihad.
Sirajul Haq slammed the Pakistani rulers, saying he wanted to see the prime minister, chief minister, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, and Pakistan People’s Party politicians in this march but the political personalities are currently busy lobbying in Sindh and Balochistan for the forthcoming general elections.
