Tragic Incident: Seven Teenage Girls Drown in Kech River in Pakistan

TURBAT: In a tragic incident, 7 teenage girls drowned in the Kech River of Turbat in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Sunday afternoon while 2 others were rescued.

Turbat SHO Hakeem Baloch said that the girls were on a picnic, and they were swimming in the river when they got into trouble.

He said that girls were on a picnic near the riverbank when one of them got caught in the deep waters and drowned. In an attempt to save the girl, her friends jumped in as well, and all got in trouble. Only two could be rescued, while 7 of them drowned.

Identities of Victim Girls

The girls who lost their lives were between the ages of ten and seventeen. They have been identified as Mahtap, Durdana, Bushra, Mahzeb Fiza, Faiza, and Shireen.

The local residents recovered the bodies and shifted them to the hospital. The bodies were handed over to their families following medico-legal formalities.

According to SHO, the two girls who were rescued are now in stable condition and out of danger.

Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Balochistan Chief Minister, has expressed deep regret over the tragic incident.

The chief minister said that he was deeply saddened by the incident and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

He directed the district administration to fully assist the affected families and provide them with all required assistance.
