WASHINGTON: Former president Donald Trump accused President Joe Biden on Thursday of siding with Hamas when he threatened to stop sending US weapons to Israel as it has launched a brutal bombardment campaign in Gaza, calling the president’s stance “disgraceful.”

Trump’s criticism comes in response to Biden’s warning of halting US weapons supplies to Israel if it proceeds with a ground offensive in Rafah city of Gaza.

In a post on his Truth Social network, Trump lambasted Biden, alleging that he is “taking the side of Palestinian group,” referring to Hamas engaged in conflict with Israel. Trump further equated Biden’s position to his alleged support for “Radical Mobs” on college campuses protesting against the Israeli bombardment in Gaza.

Speaking to reporters outside a courtroom in New York, where he is facing a hush money trial, Trump reiterated his condemnation of Biden’s stance, describing it as “disgraceful” and accusing the president of abandoning Israel.

Trump, who is expected to be the presumptive Republican presidential nominee in the upcoming November election, criticized Biden’s decision to pause the delivery of certain munitions to Israel, citing pressure from within the Democratic Party to limit arms shipments. The Biden administration’s actions, including imposing sanctions on extremist settlers and supporting a UN Security Council resolution advocating for a ceasefire, have also drawn Trump’s ire.

Since October 7, Israel has launched a relentless bombardment campaign in Gaza killing at least 34,909 Palestinians, mostly women and children, health ministry in the Palestinian territory reported.
