WASHINGTON: Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s election campaign, in collaboration with the Republican National Committee (RNC), announced on Saturday that they amassed over $76 million in fundraising during April, with more than half of the total contributions originating from small donors.

This substantial monthly fundraising figure surpassed the $65.6 million raised in March, indicating a robust and energized base of supporters. In a joint statement, Trump campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles highlighted the unity within the Republican Party and the determination of voters nationwide to “FIRE Joe Biden and elect Donald J. Trump.”

While Trump’s campaign continues to demonstrate significant fundraising prowess, Democrat Joe Biden’s re-election campaign has consistently outpaced Trump’s fundraising efforts leading up to the November election.

The announcement coincided with a retreat hosted by Trump and the RNC in Florida, attended by donors and prominent political figures, including potential vice-presidential candidates. The gathering aimed to bolster Trump’s financial resources, which have been strained by legal expenses, and to reassure donors amidst ongoing legal proceedings. Currently, Trump’s focus remains divided as he navigates a criminal trial in a Manhattan courtroom related to a hush-money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
