ANKARA, Turkey: Turkish authorities have arrested and charged six people on suspicion of spying for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, the Turkish Intelligence Agency (MIT) announced on Friday.

On Tuesday, the MIT announced that they had arrested seven people, including a private detective, on suspicion of selling information to the Mossad. It announced on Friday that six of them were arrested and one was released on bail. However, there was no immediate comment from Israel.

In January, a Turkish court ordered the arrest of 15 people and the deportation of eight others on suspicion of having ties to the Mossad and targeting Palestinians living in Turkey. Turkey arrested seven more people last month on suspicion of selling information to the Mossad.

Since the start of the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas last October, the leaders of Turkey and Israel have been at odds. Turkey has warned Israel of “serious consequences” if it tries to go after Hamas members living outside Palestinian territories, including Turkey.
