NEW YORK, United States: A US federal jury on Tuesday found two men guilty of murdering Jam Master Jay, a prominent member of Run-DMC whose case remained unresolved for nearly 20 years.

Ronald Washington and the gunman, Carl Jordan Jr., were convicted of drug-trafficking-related murders and firearm-related murders and convicted of all charges.

The defendants, Jordan, who was wearing a forest green vest and pants, and Washington, who was wearing a light blue jacket, were calm before the verdict, but became emotional when they learned the jury’s decision.

“You just killed two innocent people,” Washington and Jordan said as they were led out of the courtroom.

The trial concerned the October 30, 2002 incident in which rap pioneer Jason “Jay” Mizell, widely known by his stage name DJ, was shot in the head at a Queens studio.

He was 37 years old and the father of three children.

Prosecutors presented a case in which Washington and Jordan both knew Mizell (Jordan was his stepson) and killed the famous artist to get revenge on him for dealing cocaine.

Jordan fired a 40-caliber bullet into Mizell’s head while Washington restrained others in the room, prosecutors said.
