ABU DUBAI: UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has allocated $20 million in humanitarian help to Palestinians after airstrikes in Gaza, Arab media reported on Tuesday.

According to Emirates News Agency, the help will be provided via the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. The authorities said this was part of the UAE’s policy of providing urgent relief and support to vulnerable people in times of crisis.

About 74,000 displaced people are now housed in 64 UNRWA accommodations in Gaza. This figure is likely to rise as severe airstrikes and shelling continue, including on civilian areas.
