UK Parliamentarians Condemn Human Rights Violations in IIOJK

LONDON:  Pakistan High Commissioner to UK Dr. Mohammad Faisal and UK Parliamentarians voiced their unwavering support for the Kashmiri people amidst continued human rights atrocities perpetrated by Indian occupation forces in IIOJK. They expressed these remarks at a seminar organized by the Pakistan High Commission in London on the occasion of “Jammu & Kashmir Solidarity Day.”

Dr. Mohammad Faisal denounced the ongoing violations of human rights in the valley, emphasizing the alarming increase in civilians, including children, being targeted with pellet guns, resulting in a rise in blindness cases. He reiterated the call for the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, advocating for the right to self-determination for Kashmiris.

The Seminar was attended by distinguished figures including Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Human Rights & Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, along with Senators and Members of Parliament from the UK. MP Debbie Abrahams, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Jammu & Kashmir, pledged continued advocacy for the rights of Kashmiri people and expressed concerns over the incarceration of Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik, warning of its potential impact on geopolitical stability.

SAPM Mushaal Hussein Mullick condemned the communication blackout enforced by the Indian Government, labeling the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) as genocide, and called for global condemnation.

MP Imran Hussain highlighted India’s attempts to alter the demographics of Jammu & Kashmir illegally, asserting that the Indian Supreme Court had no jurisdiction over matters related to the region due to its international nature.

MP Afzal Khan emphasized the need for international unity in exposing the oppressive actions of the Indian Government and cautioned against India’s efforts to garner global support for its atrocities.

The seminar paid homage to the resilience and sacrifices of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, who continue to suffer under oppressive forces.

Prior to the seminar, the High Commissioner, along with prominent Kashmiri leaders and Pakistani Diaspora, visited a photo exhibition depicting the harrowing realities faced by the people of Jammu & Kashmir under Indian occupation, shedding light on the urgent need for international intervention.
