LONDON: The UK police have concluded their investigation into a reported acid attack on former federal minister of Pakistan Shahzad Akbar, finding no suspects following around six months of inquiries, local media reported on Tuesday.

“We have explored all lines of inquiry and have not been able to identify any suspects,” police source said.  Describing it as an extremely complex investigation, the Hertfordshire Constabulary mentioned, “Since November, officers have been working hard to try and trace those involved. On this occasion, we have explored all lines of inquiry and have not been able to identify any suspects. The police emphasized that incidents of this nature are rare in Hertfordshire, and ensuring the safety of any victim remains their priority.

In November last year, Herts police were contacted by the ambulance service just before November 26, 2023, at 4:45 pm on Sunday to reports of an assault in Royston. The police stated that they believe an acidic solution was used. A 44-year-old man received hospital treatment and has been discharged. They emphasized that the safety of any victim is paramount, and they consider this incident to be isolated.
