KYIV, Ukraine: Ukraine’s air force announced on Tuesday that it had successfully destroyed a Russian fleet ship, the Novocherkassk, in the Black Sea.
The ship was suspected of transporting Iranian explosive drones known as “Shaheds” for use in Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.
The air force did not specify the location of the attack but posted a video showing a fiery explosion at the Russian naval base of Feodosia in the occupied Crimean Peninsula.
The attack was a response to the persistent use of drones by Russia in its military operations against Ukraine.
The destruction of the Novocherkassk follows Ukraine’s previous strikes in Crimea, including the sinking of the cruiser Moskva, the flagship of the Black Sea fleet, in April 2022.
Sergey Aksyonov, the Kremlin-backed head of Crimea, confirmed the attack, stating that an enemy attack occurred in the Feodosia area. The port area was cordoned off, and efforts were made to evacuate residents from nearby houses.

-> That’s a ship Russia surely was not planning to use anytime soon.
