MOSCOW: A local official said that six people have been killed and 35 injured when a Ukrainian drone targeted two buses taking people to work in the Belgorod region of Russia.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that the attack was carried out near the village of Berezovka, sharing a photograph showing a bus with shattered windows. He noted that one individual was in critical condition, with two children sustaining minor injuries.

The Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, has faced repeated assaults from Ukrainian artillery, drones, and proxies over the past year. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has heightened tensions in the region.

Kyiv denies accusations of deliberately targeting civilians, asserting its right to retaliate against Russia. Meanwhile, Russia contends that the West overlooks Ukrainian attacks on civilians.
