Uzbekistan and Japan Hold Talks to Strengthen Cooperation

TASHKENT: Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, on Tuesday met with Takashi Hatori, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan, to discuss and enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the possibilities of expanding trade, economic, investment, financial, and technical cooperation. They acknowledged the positive growth in the number of joint ventures with Japanese capital in Uzbekistan, particularly in priority sectors, where various projects are being implemented.

The two sides explored mechanisms and joint actions to attract leading Japanese companies’ technologies, management expertise, and know-how to Uzbekistan. The focus was on the implementation of new joint investment projects in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, education, and machine-building. To promote stronger ties, both parties agreed to organize monthly round tables involving representatives from Japanese business circles.

Financial and Technological Cooperation Between Japan and Uzbekistan

Moreover, the meeting also addressed the potential of increasing financial and technical assistance from the Government of Japan for socially significant projects in Uzbekistan. Takashi Hatori expressed the willingness to continue active cooperation both in ongoing projects and in developing new initiatives.

The preparation for Uzbekistan’s participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka was also discussed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing successful cooperation and outlined joint actions to practically implement existing agreements.
