Uzbekistan, Germany Agree to Implement Different Projects Worth $9 Billion

Berlin: President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Berlin on an official visit to Germany on Wednesday to discuss the implementation of new investment, trade, and technological projects worth 9 billion dollars with the German leadership.

On his first official engagement in Germany, he met with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan sees Germany as a strategic and reliable partner. Deep historical roots connect the two nations.

In recent years, bilateral ties between the two countries have developed dynamically in multiple areas.

German investments in Uzbekistan

A twofold increase in trade and the number of joint projects was discussed with satisfaction. German investments in Uzbekistan reached 5.5 billion dollars, of which four billion dollars were attracted over the past few years.

During the visit, it was agreed to implement new trade, investment, and technological projects worth $9 billion.

The projects include cooperation in mining, chemical, green energy, digitalization of agriculture, innovation, pharmaceutical industries, modernization of transport infrastructure, and other priority areas.

An agreement was reached on a vast partnership with Deutsche Bank, KfW Development Bank, and the German Society for International Cooperation to help initiatives of German companies in Uzbekistan.

The significance of continuing the political talks was also emphasized. The parties welcomed the inking of the Intergovernmental Declaration on expanding multifaceted cooperation.

Both leaders discussed the issue of regional security in the context of the evolving situation in Afghanistan. They also highlighted the need for continuing humanitarian projects, including establishing a logistics hub and the Educational Center for Afghan Youth in Termez.

They agreed to work on the development of transport and logistics in Uzbekistan.
