Veteran Classical Singer Hussain Bakhsh Gullo Passes Away

LAHORE: Veteran classical singer Ustad Hussain Baksh Gullo passed away in Lahore on Tuesday.

Born into the lineage of the renowned Ustad Nathu Khan, he proudly represented the Patiala and Sham Chaurasi Gharana in the realm of classical music.

Hailing from the esteemed family of Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and Ustad Nazakat Ali Khan, Gullo’s musical legacy extended to his sons, the well-known classical and thumri singers Chand Khan and Suraj Khan.

Gullo, an adept performer and composer, showcased his mastery in Indian classical, thumri, and ghazals. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he graced the stages of Radio Pakistan and Pakistan TV with his exceptional talent. His musical journey took him around the globe, earning him acclaim and numerous prestigious awards.

Among these accolades was the coveted Pride of Performance award bestowed upon him by the Pakistani government. The legacy of Ustad Hussain Baksh Gullo remains etched in the annals of classical music, a testament to his profound contribution to the art form.
