BEIRUT: A video clip circulating on social media showing people in Lebanon climbing a barrier wall on the border with Israel, following an Israel-Hamas conflict has been confirmed as an old clip.

The video is from a May 2021 protest in a Lebanese border village held to express solidarity with Palestinians amid the fourth war in Gaza.

Since the conflict started between Israel and Hamas last week some social media platforms are misrepresenting a years-old footage as a clip from the recent conflict in Gaza.

The clip shows protestors in the southern Lebanese village of Odaisseh climbing a wall erected by the Israeli army along the Lebanon-Israel border.

A TikTok post: “Lebanon 10/13/2023. People trying to cross the border to help Gaza!” It has so far received approximately received 378,800 views.

Although the footage is related to a real protest on the border of Israel and Lebanon but that happened during the 2021 Gaza war.

The video has already been shared on social media more than two years ago.

The current Israel-Hamas conflict that began on October 7 has proved to be the deadliest of five Gaza wars.

In a latest development at least 500 Palestinians were martyred in an Israeli strike at a Gaza hospital on Tuesday pushing the overall death toll beyond 4,000.
