Vietnam Women’s National Dress Festival Begin in Bid to Boost Tourism

HANOI: A festival in Vietnam featuring with ‘ao dai’ dress, which is the national dress for Vietnamese women, has begun in the country’s capital to boost the scale of tourism.

During the opening ceremony of the three-day festival kicked off on Friday along with Capital’s Hoan Kiem Lake, a large number of ‘ao dai’ dress collections of renowned dress designers and fashion outlets, airlines, tourism companies, and luxaries hotels were displayed in the festival.

In this ‘ao dai’ festival, artwork about history, tradition, and usage of ‘ao dai’ dresses in old and present days in multiple localities of Vietnam, prominently the capital city of Hanoi, the city of Hue, Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam: Dress Festival Includes Parade

During this festival, on Saturday and Sunday, in the walking ways around the Hoan Kiem lake, there will be a parade planned to include around 1,000 women in the ‘ao dai’ wardrobe will be held.

Women’s Parade will also cover music and light shows indicating the traditional long dresses of ‘ao dai’s beauty and cultural significance.

Vietnam: ‘Ao Dai’ cultural ambassador

Vietnamese women’s culture wardrobe, ‘ao dai,’ is working as a cultural ambassador of Vietnam, but for its transition to work as a tourism ambassador of the country, this festival is formulated to assist the regaining and development of Vietnamese tourism, which was heavily declined due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

According to the administration, the capital Hanoi has received more than 17 million tourists, including domestic and foreign tourists and participants in, this year, which far exceeds the yearly tourism development target.

Earlier, the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that the capital has prepared to host 9 to 10 million tourists, including 2 million foreign tourists, in 2022. – APP
