Visa Regime Eased to Facilitate Sikh Community:  Ambassador Khan

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to US, Ambassador Masood Khan, has said that the Government and the people of Pakistan understand religious sentiments of the Sikh community and their doors are open to the Sikh community.

He expressed these remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the American Punjabi Society that called on him at the Embassy of Pakistan Washington. The ambassador said Islamabad will continue to provide all possible facilitation to Sikh community across the world with regards to the visit to their religious sites in Pakistan.

Ambassador Khan while welcoming the delegation at the embassy said that the Government and people of Pakistan respect religious sentiments of the Sikhs and they will continue to provide all facilities to the Sikh community in this connection.

He said that the visa policy about religious tourism has been simplified keeping in view religious sentiments of the followers of various faiths, with an aim to provide them all-out facilitation.

The Ambassador also assured the members of delegation of all facilitation during the visit to Pakistan in their visas and visit to different sites and cities of Pakistan.

On the occasion, the President of American Punjabi Society, Gary Sikka, told the envoy that the society consists of one hundred thousand Sikh members, some of whom are also from Pakistan.

He added that soon a delegation of 115 people of American Punjabi Society would visit Pakistan to visit religious sites in the country. The delegation will travel to Faisalabad, Lahore, Kartarpur and Islamabad.

Members of the delegation, referring to their earlier visits, particularly their pilgrimage to Kartapur, stated that the hospitality of the Pakistani people captivates their hearts.

The delegation thanked the government of Pakistan for facilitating the pilgrimage of the Sikh community to their religious sites.
