Volkswagen to Reintroduce Battery-powered VW Vehicles in North America

FRANKFURT: Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) — one of the world’s leading manufacturers of automobiles and commercial vehicles headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany— has announced selling battery-powered versions of its VW bus in North America from 2024 onwards, in an attempt to reintroduce the iconic model after a two-decade pause.

According to Reuters, an extended model with room for seven people and a larger 85 kilowatt hour (kWh) battery will also be made available alongside the release of the ID Buzz, a completely electric vehicle.

“The VW bus left the United States and Canada with the T4 generation 20 years ago. The VW bus, known as the “microbus” between New York and San Francisco, has maintained its cult status to this day, according to a statement from Volkswagen.

The business added that batteries may be charged from 10% to 80% at accessible quick charging stations, and that all ID. Buzz cars will be produced for the North American market at Volkswagen’s facility in Hanover, Germany.
