900 Arrested at Antiwar Protests in US

NEW YORK:  As many as 900 people have been arrested on US campuses since April 18, western media reported on Monday. According to the Associated Press 900 students have been arrested on US campuses since April 18, when police forcefully removed a pro-Palestinian protest camp at Columbia University.

Students at several universities have since established encampments calling for an end to Israel’s war on Gaza and for their universities to cut relations with firms selling arms to Israel.

On Saturday around 275 people were apprehended from protests at Northeastern University in Boston, Indiana University at Bloomington, Washington University in St Louis and Arizona State University in Phoenix.

Faculty members at several universities have also expressed their strong supports for students, including at universities in California, Texas and Georgia, where they adopted votes of no confidence in their leadership.

Meanwhile, Arab media reported that Israeli forces have killed nine members of one family in Rafah. Earlier, media reported that another seven Palestinians were reportedly killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza City.

As per media reports and health officials, 22 Palestinians have been killed, including children and women, in overnight brutal Israeli strikes on Rafah and Gaza.  More than 34,454 people including women and children have been killed since October 7 in Gaza, health officials said. It added that more than 77,575 people have been injured in Israeli strikes on Gaza.
