GAZA: The Israeli military has said it is carrying out an offensive at Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital, Arab media reported on Wednesday.  A doctor at Al-Shifa says Israeli forces have started attacks around the hospital, forcing patients and health workers to move into corridors for safety. A Palestinian health official said the administrators of the hospital rejected Israel’s calls to evacuate the medical facility without a proper procedure for the patients.

The health ministry spokesman said the director of the hospital clearly told [Israel] that the evacuation must take place through a safe humanitarian corridor. He added that patients cannot be evacuated to the street as that amounts to issuing a death sentence to the patients.

US accepting Israeli lies during war in Gaza

Mustafa Barghouti, the general secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative has said that by accepting Israeli lies during the war in Gaza, the United States is repeating the same mistake it did in invading Iraq.

Earlier Gaza health ministry spokesman said Israel had told officials in the besieged enclave that it would raid the Shifa hospital in the coming minutes. The Israeli military claimed that Hamas has an underground command center under the hospital, an accusation completely dismissed by the Palestinian group and hospital staff.

Medical staff at the hospital said the hospital was barely functioning because of the Israeli attacks and a lack of fuel to power generators.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his disturbance over the loss of lives in hospitals in Gaza because of ongoing Israeli bombing. Israel has started relentless air and ground assaults on the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7.

According to the latest figures from Palestinian authorities more than 11,320 Palestinians have been killed, including more than 7,800 women and children, and over 29,200 others have been wounded. Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques and churches, have also been destroyed in the Israeli strikes.
