TEL AVIV: Mass protests have taken place in Israel, with protestors calling for the return of Israeli hostages held in Gaza, the removal of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s extremist government and an end to the war in Gaza.

Arab media reported that friends, families and supporters of the Israeli captives rallied in Tel Aviv’s “Hostage Square” and asked Netanyahu to resign immediately.

The turnout of protestors in the square was much higher than earlier and demanded removal of Netanyahu’s extremist government and war in the Gaza Strip.

Protesters shouted “shame, shame, shame” in reference to the Israeli government, with some also blaming PM Netanyahu and other officials for the current violence in Gaza.

Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, protestors gathered in front of the house of Israeli President to demonstrate, asking for the return of captives in Gaza.

Israel conducted airstrikes in southern Gaza on Saturday, escalating tensions in the region as the United Nations warned that the besieged Palestinian territory has become “uninhabitable” after three months of continuous bombardments. The conflict, which began on October 7, shows no signs of abating as it enters its fourth month.

Civilians in Gaza have faced the brunt of the Israeli violence, enduring widespread displacement, destruction, and a deepening humanitarian crisis. UN Humanitarian Chief Martin Griffiths stated on Friday that “Gaza has simply become uninhabitable” amid the extensive destruction.
