LONDON: In a recent turn of events, earlier reports regarding an attack on former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at a café in Central London on Saturday evening have proven to be inaccurate. Instead, during a confrontation between Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters and the police on Bond Street, Nawaz Sharif’s car was subjected to a coffee splash by one of the BLM activists.

Nawaz Sharif, accompanied by his two bodyguards and driver, was present at the location when the clash between the BLM activists and the police unfolded. The BLM activists had organized a picket to advocate for their rights.

As the police were apprehending one activist, a BLM protester threw coffee at Nawaz Sharif’s parked vehicle. The incident occurred amidst the clash between the protesters and the police, as captured in the footage. The video showed a man being taken away by the police while wearing a white hazmat suit adorned with Black Lives Matter slogans.

Initially PML-N Blames PTI for Attack on Nawaz Sharif

Initial reports of the attack on Nawaz Sharif circulated after a tweet by PML-N activist Khurram Butt, who claimed that PTI supporters had assaulted the former premier.

In a now-deleted tweet, Khurram Butt wrote, “PTI goons attacked Mian Nawaz Sharif’s vehicle this evening. Nawaz Sharif is fine and unhurt. Alhamdulillah. The attacker has been arrested and is in police custody.” He also shared pictures of the vehicle and the man being taken away by the police.

Contrary to these claims, a Sharif family source clarified that there was no direct attack on the former prime minister. Rather, Nawaz Sharif coincidentally happened to be present when the clash between the BLM protesters and the police occurred. The coffee was thrown at his parked vehicle, and it was not specifically aimed at the former premier.

The police have confirmed the arrest of one man from the scene but have not provided any further details regarding the incident.
