WASHINGTON: The United States (US) on Friday announced a $2.1-billion defense aid for Ukraine, including weaponries for Patriot air defense systems, drones, artillery rounds, and laser-guided rocket system munitions.
Washington announces air defense package for Kyiv
The Pentagon said in a statement that the promise to supply new air defense systems and ammunition highlighted “the firm US support for Ukraine” in its fight against Moscow’s invasion.
The development came as President Biden voiced confidence that Washington would provide long-term defense support to Kyiv, despite hesitation among some legislators in Republican Party.
Earlier, the United States announced $300 million arms package for Kyiv but warned Ukraine that US arms should not be used to attack Russian territory. The US has been leading an extraordinary effort by the NATO alliance and other allied nations to supply Kyiv with arms and other help.
