ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has stressed focusing on reality-based matters instead frittering away the country’s time on unrelated discussions as time was a valuable commodity.

In an interview with a private TV channel, he said his remarks over the ‘cipher issue’ had been quoted out of the context.

Responding to a question, he said he had always been making efforts to bring the people together, adding that he was not a broker, but always stressed upon holding talks.

The President observed that currently, two issues were very important including the holding of elections and the country’s economy.

He maintained that he was functioning under the constitutional mandate, adding that he had sent back the bills about NAB, Electronic Voting Machines, and the vote of Overseas Pakistanis, but signed all other bills.

He also lauded the role of the armed forces of Pakistan and its leadership and said that it had huge contributions to the war on terror and in the recent floods.
