NEW YORK: WhatsApp has announced the introduction of a new feature aimed at simplifying online payments for its users, with the addition of a Unified Payment Interface (UPI) QR code scanner directly into chat lists.

The latest update, version 2.24.7.3, incorporates the UPI QR code scanner feature, making it easier for users to securely send and receive money without the need to pass through multiple screens or follow several steps.

Prior to this update, there were speculations regarding the development of this feature, which was initially assumed to enhance convenience and accessibility by allowing users to easily share their QR codes. However, the functionality of the feature differs, as it enables users to scan UPI QR codes directly from chat lists.

According to WABetaInfo.com, the integration of the UPI QR code scanning feature directly into chat lists not only saves time but also enhances the overall user experience by making the scanning process more intuitive.

Currently available to some beta testers who install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, the feature is expected to be rolled out to more users in the coming days.
