TENNESSEE: At least 14 individuals have lost their lives in Tennessee due to weather-related incidents, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.

This information comes amidst a winter storm causing temperatures to plummet across the United States. As reported by News Channel 5, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) disclosed that a 66-year-old man tragically passed away on Monday.

The incident occurred when he fell through a skylight while clearing snow from the roof of a business in Hickman County. Emergency services received a 911 call around 3:30 pm on Monday, reporting the incident on Highway 100. The man fell 20 feet, landing on a concrete floor, and was declared dead at the scene, as confirmed by TEMA.

Furthermore, additional fatalities were reported in Madison, Shelby, Washington, Carroll, Knox, Van Buren, Lauderdale, and Henry Counties, though TEMA did not specify the exact circumstances or identities of the victims.

While TEMA did not directly attribute these deaths to the weather, Middle Tennessee experienced sub-zero temperatures on Wednesday morning. It is anticipated that temperatures will rise above freezing by Thursday afternoon.

“The extremely cold temperatures across the region have increased the demand on the power system. Businesses and the public have been asked to reduce electric power use as much as possible without sacrificing safety. Temperatures are not expected to reach above freezing until at least Thursday,” TEMA said in the report.
